Outdoor Fitness Sessions in May with Anytime Fitness

Get Outside and Play!

Anytime Fitness is offering FREE outdoor fitness sessions throughout the Month of May

Mora, MN– In simpler times, many years ago, parents used to urge their children to “turn off that television set and go outside and play.”  Well, Anytime Fitness of Mora believes everyone could use a little more active fun in our lives and that’s why the gym is hosting playful exercise events at the Library Park at 4:30 pm every Tuesday during the month of May.

The four consecutive “May Free Workouts” May 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th will be lead by personal trainers or gym staff members and they are designed for people of every fitness level. The workouts will feature fun events like relay races and obstacle courses.  Everyone, not just Anytime Fitness members, is invited to participate.

“We’ve recently developed new fitness programs and a mobile app to help our members stay active whether they’re at the gym, in their homes or anywhere else,” said Robert Haase.  “The May Free Workouts are another example of our firm belief that there are countless ways to lead a healthy lifestyle.  You just need to find activities that are right for you – and we’d love to help you do it.

The May Free Workouts concept, inspired by the grassroots efforts of a few Anytime Fitness clubs that regularly offer free outdoor “boot camps,” has grown into a nationwide campaign to promote physical fitness. The Anytime Fitness gym in Mora is one of approximately 1,000 Anytime Fitness clubs across the United States that will host the free outdoor exercise sessions this year.

It’s all about adventure!

Megan knows all about “adventure”.  Being a full time, single mom is an adventure in itself, however, she’s worked for the DNR, fights fires on the Brook Park Fire Department and works a full time job with Coborns as the Assistant Meat Department Manager.  She’ll share some insight with us on the challenges and rewards and how she has gotten to where she is now.

The Dala of Mora Business Women have generously agreed through unanimous vote by its general membership to continue our Scholarship Program for young women by supporting:

  •  two Mora High School Scholarships at $750 each   ($1,500)
  • one Ogilvie High School Scholarship at $750, and
  • $500 towards a non-traditional scholarship in support of Bridging the Dream Program at Pine Technical College.

The DBW Scholarship Committee is in the process of reviewing the applications and will be making their announcement soon of the recipients.

The March 26th DBW Girl’s Night Out event raised approximately $690 for our scholarship program through the raffle, silent auction, and private donations. Good job DBW in your support of GNO!

Our next opportunity for a scholarship fundraiser is coming up on Friday and Saturday, June 15th and 16th  Coborn’s Brat Stand Cookout

DBW submitted an application to host the Brat Stand in Mora, and Coborn’s approved our application and assigned the dates for the event.  Many, many organizations submitted applications to participate in the Brat Stand as their fundraiser. DBW was one of the select groups chosen.   When shopping locally at Coborns, please say a special thank you to the Manager for approving our application!

Our organization will receive 50% of the total money taken in from the cookout.   What a generous way for Coborn’s to support the local community organizations and their mission.  And a great fundraiser for our scholarship program!

Last year we raised about $525 from the Brat Stand for our scholarship program.  So it is an important fundraiser we don’t want to miss out on.

The Brat Stand Cookout is also a tremendous opportunity to do public relations; to meet and greet community individuals, in particular women, and let them know about our fantastic organization:  Dala Business Women.

What we need now is VOLUNTEERS to work the Brat Stand Cookout on June 15 and 16.

It’s a fun activity to be involved in; a great way to visit with community residents.

Let us know what shift(s) you would like to volunteer to work at the Brat Stand.   We need at least 3 individuals per shift, and possibly 4 individuals during the morning shifts.   Morning shift are quite a bit busier. You can sign up for more than one shift too.  Below are the shifts available.
