Imagine being suddenly blind

Scott McKinney is no stranger to helping people.  He has been a Community Services Director, Radio Broadcaster, Reporter, Writer, Operations Manager for KBEK 95.5 Radio for 20 years.  Today he supervises talking books.  A state wide radio network broadcasting books and information across Minnesota and the country to people with impaired vision.  Scott will share his experiences working with visually impaired people.

Minnesota State Services for the Blind (SSB) was founded in the 1920s to provide services to blind and visually-impaired individuals, and support independent living skills.  Services include Radio Talking Book (RTB), Dial-In News, and the NFB Newsline, and include individuals who have physical or learning disabilities that impede them from accessing print materials. SSB is part of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).

Scott is a contributing writer for the Kanabec County Times and the Braham Journal. He was also the director of the Community Services Department at Lakes and Pines CAC.  In his free time Scott initiates spirited online political discussions, and ponders how come traffic moves so doggone slow on Highway 65.
