Update on Kanabec County Flood Victim’s Fundraiser September 10th

Much work is being done, much more to do. The Crystal Bar & Grill is hosting this fundraiser as community members and though there are hard working people pulling this together, would you please, please consider helping your fellow community members by contributing to the silent auction or live auction, purchasing raffle tickets, buying a wrist band, donating funds, helping with tents, participating?
Our donations will definitely make a difference in the quality of lives of a families, children, senior citizens, working folks. We realize that disaster could happen to you, to me, to any of us and that we will be there for each other when we are needed. This is such a wonderful and easy way to help.

Please consider:
Asking your family members, your employees –  if they’d like to pitch in $5 or $10 each and put together a basket of great items that will fetch a nice sum in the auction.

Baskets are great and if you need ideas for themes, here are a few:
Movie Night (Paradise Theatre tickets, candy, movie poster, movie trivia book),
Date night (wine, opener, glasses, tickets to show, special snacks),
      Spa Basket,
      Birthday Party basket,
Swedish (Norwegian, Irish, French, German….) basket,
Hunter’s Widow’s Basket (classic movies, wine, chocolate, fleecy things…),
     Kid’s basket  …
other ideas:
     Halloween Haunted Trail Ride tickets,
Tickets to dinner, a show, Rennaissance Festival or movie,
a Casino package for a night or 2,
     Sport event tickets…

Consider baking cookies, cake, pie, or even renting yourself out (fun to do with your friends) to serve a dinner or dessert at the highest bidder’s home.
Rent out your self, group or family to do handy work, shoveling, raking, car washing…
All ideas for Silent or Live Auction!

If you have an item to give for the auctions, the Crystal will take donations day or night. Please share the word with anyone else you think may like to help out.

There are Raffle Tickets available for $10.00.

raffle ticket Purchase of a ticket gives you a chance to win:
gun a Rifle,
a Kitchen Aid mixer,
$200 cash or $100 cash.
Tickets are available for sale at the Crystal and the Chamber office.

Commemorative wrist bands will be available as well for $5.00 from the
Chamber Directors.
wristband 4 flat
In hopes of a grand turn out, there will be live music, a bake sale, a bean bag tournament, beer bust, food… If you have or do something that you feel will help draw a crowd – please let the Crystal or the Chamber know! It would be wonderful if you would donate your time and talent! The more folks we bring to this fundraising event, the more opportunity there will be to raise more money for those who deeply need it.

QUESTION: We’d like to ask if any of you have pop-up tents that could be used?  We would ask that you set them up on Union Street (please let us know first!) so that we could hold the silent auction outside – on the street. This will save the cost of renting a tent, as it may be too warm a day to just set up and be out in the sun. If the weather is punky, it will all need to be held in the Crystal. Put your name on your tent if you’d like a little promotional opportunity!!

There is a Kanabec County Flood Fundraiser bank account set up at First Citizens Bank if anyone would like to donate money. Just stop in there and speak with any one of the friendly people working there. They will set you up.

Please set this date on your calendar and participate in any way you can. Let’s have fun and feel really good about helping our neighbors, our friends, those of us that call this wonderful and giving community HOME.

Show Us Your Belly!

One of the catchy slogans of Yellow Belly Hard Cider!

Yellow Belly Won
the People’s Choice Award at the St. Cloud Cider Fest on Saturday!

Congratulations to Jim and Debbie Morrison, owners of Sapsucker Farms, the producers of Yellow Belly Hard Cider. Located right in Quamba, we are proud to say, fellow members of the Mora Area Chamber of Commerce, Yellow Belly holds its own.

The Cider Fest was a tasting event held at Joe Faber field. There were 175 different craft ciders and some craft beers. The 1800 participants vote for their favorite cider and
Yellow Belly won!

Here is a photo of Jim holding the trophy. Nate Robertson from Cambridge is on the left, he works for the cidery. The fellow on the right with the mustache is Tom Fagrelius, a college friend of Jim’s who helped out at cider fest.

Meanwhile, Debbie was in St. Paul at the Summer Beer Dabbler, another tasting event where there were over 600 different craft beers and ciders. A super fun weekend!

Great people make the Best Cider! Here’s to you, Jim and Debbie Morrison!

Yellow Belly Hard Cider is available at our local North Country Bottle Shop and it comes in a Ginger Cider flavor too.
Try it out to personally find out whether you feel it would be especially
